Fri 4th Jun 2010

The vision of this festival is to bring outstanding award-winning films, together with their film makers, to this remote area. Over the weekend, film lovers, international visitors, tourists and locals share a unique experience and a very familiar get-together. It's easy for everyone to mingle, make connections, talk and debate. With seeing all the films, meeting all the directors, Guth Gafa has become a kind of a cult festival.

This years festival promises once again a rich and varied programme of 30 international and Irish feature and short documentaries. Guth Gafa is Ireland and the world; human rights; intimate stories of struggle; epic films of corporations that are destroying our environment; beautiful portraits of great lives.

Somehow, between the unique content, the mix of wildly different filmmakers and the raging debate, the identity of Guth Gafa emerges - our Films On The Edge!

As ever, Guth Gafa is more than a film festival, our visitors and guests can enjoy excellent international cuisine at our Festival Cafe and have a pint in one of the local pubs with their legendary Gaeltacht hospitality and traditional music. Later, the nights come alive with world class live music set to rock on until the early hours in the Guth Gafa Festival Club. It's a truly great weekend.
