Runegal 10k race in Dunfanaghy

Blog thumbnail

Tue 8th Jun 2010

The race was a grueling 4km of uphill to where the headland of the horn meet the sea. A water refreshment stop gave a much needed boost after a never ending climb , that gave way to a long downhill that was almost worse than the uphill and it proved difficult to find the brakes !! The last 2k required lots of determination out of the cooling breeze of the headland the sun beat down upon very tired legs. Coming round the hron into the sight of Dunfanaghy town the end was in sight as hornhead bridge loomed in the distance. Exasperation and exhaustion set in at the finish line mixed with a real sense of achievement.
Some sprinted round, some ran and some are probably still going but all enjoyed a great event and the much needed refreshments at the finish !! A great event that I am still feeling in my legs, congrats to all whole took part and a big thanks to all the organizers and help on the day !! Hopefully this leads to many more great events in the area. . . . . .
