Your First Surfing Experience

TO COME SOON

The Narosa surf coaching team have taught thousands of people to surf in Ireland of all ages and abilities!

Although some may take to it more naturally than others, everyone has a fantastic time with us in the ocean! We meet at the surf shop in Dunfanaghy (north Donegal) where you'll be introduced to the Narosa surf coaches and pick up a fantastic O'Neill surfing wetsuit for the session. From there we convoy you down to one of our great surfing beaches within 10 mins of the surf school in Dunfanaghy.

We take to the water to catch our first waves lying down in the 'prone' surfing position.

The coaches will teach you to turn and control the boards with stalling and acceleration! We're in waist depth water so don't worry about 'bogging a rail' or 'kissing the fish', it's all apart of the surfing experience! You'll get great confidence from this exercise and the fundamentals you learn you can take with you throughout your surfing days!

The importance of stance, where you look and arm positioning is key to staying balanced on the boards.

Let's head out then into the beautiful atlantic irish waters for the rest of the session and get standing on the surfboard! During the session the surf coaches will assist you in catching waves and ensuring everyone is safe and having fun. At the end of the surf you may even get a demo from the pro's-if you ask nicely!

Once at the beach you get the wetsuits on and we head to the sand for the pre-surf warm up and introduction to surfing.

The coaches explain the surf conditions and why the surfing beaches in Donegal are so good to learn on. Then we go through the all important surf safety signals and the experienced coaches select the best part of the beach for fun and safe surfing!

We then go back onto the sand to learn the all important 'Pop up'

You'll be stoked with catching your first waves and realise surfing is not intimidating and our surf school wetsuits keep you really warm! The Narosa surf coaches will then teach you not only how but why we pop up to feet on the surfboard!

It's then time to get warmed up, call mum and tell her how good you are at surfing!

We then head back to Dunfanaghy for a good cup of tea (or maybe something stronger).
A very warm welcome to surfing in Ireland and we hope to see you out there.
