Saturday 1st October
Meet at Arnold's Hotel on Saturday morning for the weekend's Itinerary and sign up. Meet the guides and fellow walker's over tea and coffee served from 9-10am in the Glenveagh room. Departure is at 10am to Muckish Mountain!
Enjoy the meandering drive up the valley as the Summit of Muckish in its stunning highland setting reveals itself. As you begin to climb the nose Northwards you will be rewarded by great views towards Cresslough and Ards Estuary. Here the walk can be divided into those keen to Summit and those who wish to enjoy the view. Continuing up the ridge will give way to views of the Atlantic and the famous Atlantic Drive Scenery. Upon reaching the top only Errigal rises marginal higher and as such the sense of achievement is a real top of the world feeling! A true sense of scale and wilderness rewards those who summit.
Sunday 2nd October
It's Ireland's national trails day and we're walking the stunning the Horn Head Loop followed by an afternoon BBQ at Molly's Bar Dunfanaghy!
'The Big Ramble' will lead you on a landscape adventure! The route winds past the forests and the new lake through a stunning sand dune succession to reveal the most stunning beach in Ireland! With Muckish mountain as a backdrop, you will see rare views of Tory Ireland and the impressive geology of Horn head in McSwynes Gun. This ramble embodies the expression "where the headlands meet the sea" and is one of Narosa's and Dunfanaghy's favourite walks. A walk that has something exciting for everyone and a BBQ to finish up the day!
Accommodation is provided by Arnold's Hotel and the Corcreggan mill.
